Joyce began making baskets in 1987 at the Rensselaer County Council of the Arts. Soon, what began as a hobby, became a passion and she began to teach classes as well as take them. Today she continues to pursue her passion and teaches both children and adults throughout the Capital District and Hudson Valley. She is a member of the Northeast Basketmakers Guild and has been invited to teach at their annual gathering many times. She has also taught at the North Carolina Basketweavers Convention.
Joyce lives in Kinderhook, NY with her husband, Rollin. They have three grown children and four not so grown grandchildren.
